
Project Overview
Winki Energy designed and installed an intelligent energy upgrade for a homeowner on Boronia St, Pascoe Vale. Rather than replacing the existing solar panels, we optimised the system with cutting-edge Sigenergy battery technology and a high-efficiency iStore heat pump. This approach maximises the value of the homeowner’s current solar investment while dramatically improving energy storage, self-consumption and household efficiency. The installation provides reliable backup power and sustainable hot water heating, supporting both cost savings and environmental responsibility.
What the client needed
The homeowner had an existing solar panel system but lacked energy storage capabilities, meaning excess solar energy was being exported to the grid rather than stored for evening use. They wanted to maximise their solar self-consumption, reduce evening grid dependency and future-proof their energy system. Additionally, they sought an efficient hot water solution that could integrate with their renewable energy setup. Reliability, energy independence and maximising their existing solar investment were the primary concerns.

Our main goals for this project were to:

The system we designed & installed
The 6kW Sigenergy Sigen Hybrid 6.0 SP inverter (AS4777-2 2020 compliant) was carefully selected to integrate seamlessly with the homeowner’s existing solar panels. This advanced hybrid inverter manages both solar generation and battery storage with intelligent precision, ensuring optimal energy flow throughout the day.
The 8.06kWh SigenStor battery provides substantial storage capacity, capturing excess solar energy during peak production hours and making it available for evening and overnight use. This significantly reduces reliance on grid electricity during expensive peak periods.
The iStore heat pump completes the system, using renewable energy to provide highly efficient hot water heating. By running primarily on stored solar power, the heat pump further reduces grid consumption while delivering reliable hot water with minimal environmental impact.
This integrated solution demonstrates how existing solar investments can be enhanced with modern storage and efficient appliances, creating a complete renewable energy ecosystem.
The final outcome
The Boronia St homeowner now enjoys a fully optimised solar energy system that delivers maximum value from their existing panels while providing robust storage and efficient hot water heating.
