
What the client needed
A returning client on Conside Crescent, Torquay, already had a solar-plus-storage system and was ready to expand their energy independence further. With growing household demand and a strong desire for greater blackout protection and battery capacity, they reached out to Winki Energy for the installation of a second Tesla Powerwall 2.
Our objectives
This project focused on enhancing the home’s energy resilience and efficiency by installing an additional 13.5kWh Tesla Powerwall 2. The goal was to ensure seamless integration with the existing solar and battery storage system, creating a cohesive and reliable setup. By expanding storage capacity, the system now maximises energy availability for overnight use and provides backup power during grid outages. The installation was designed to be clean, efficient, and minimally invasive, delivering improved performance without adding complexity.
The system we designed & installed
Winki Energy designed and installed an expanded energy storage solution by adding one Tesla Powerwall 2, delivering an additional 13.5kWh of battery capacity. The unit offers automatic blackout protection, intelligent time-based control, and seamless app-based monitoring via the Tesla mobile platform. Fully integrated with the existing solar system, the new Powerwall enhances energy independence and operational efficiency. Professionally installed alongside the original setup, it significantly increases the home’s total storage capacity and supports greater self-sufficiency in daily energy use.
The final outcome
This Torquay upgrade delivered a powerful energy storage boost, resulting in a total of 27kWh across two Tesla Powerwall 2 units. The expanded capacity provides enhanced energy security during outages and enables more effective use of stored solar power overnight. With real-time performance tracking via the Tesla app, the homeowner gains complete visibility and control over their energy use. The system is future-ready designed to scale with growing energy demands while offering a sleek, high-capacity solution that reduces costs and improves overall reliability.
