What the client needed
Woolworths Sunbury needed a large-scale solar energy system to offset high electricity consumption from lighting, refrigeration, and retail operations. The objective was to implement a system that could deliver long-term energy savings, reduce carbon emissions, and operate efficiently within the constraints of a busy commercial rooftop.
Our objectives
Winki Energy’s scope of work for this project focused on delivering a tailored solar solution that met both the operational and sustainability needs of Woolworths Sunbury. The key objective was to design a 351kW solar system that aligned with the site’s daily energy usage profile, ensuring consistent and efficient power generation. A clean and safe installation across a large-scale commercial roof was critical, requiring careful planning and execution. The project also aimed to minimise any disruption to store operations throughout the process. Ultimately, the system needed to reflect Woolworths’ broader corporate sustainability commitments by supporting emissions reduction and long-term energy goals.
The system we designed & installed
To meet these objectives, Winki Energy deployed a 351kW solar solution using high-output commercial-grade solar panels, optimised for maximum sun exposure and energy yield. The system was supported by robust commercial-grade inverters and an advanced monitoring platform, enabling precise performance tracking and diagnostics. Rooftop mounting structures were carefully engineered for long-term durability and compliance with commercial safety standards. This comprehensive setup enables Woolworths Sunbury to generate a continuous, reliable power supply directly on-site—significantly reducing dependence on grid electricity during peak hours.
The final outcome
The completed installation now provides 351kW of reliable solar energy to support Woolworths’ retail operations, resulting in substantial electricity cost savings throughout business hours. The system contributes meaningfully to Woolworths Group’s broader emissions reduction targets, aligning with its commitment to more sustainable business practices. With a clean, professional rooftop layout designed for both performance and longevity, the installation represents a future-proof energy strategy. Woolworths Sunbury is now equipped with a high-quality solar solution that supports cost efficiency, operational resilience, and environmentally responsible retailing.
